CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS IN THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR
According to the Department for Energy Security, UK manufacturers account for approximately 17% of the nation’s total energy consumption. Our job is to help you improve operational efficiency in ways that also reduce environmental impact, from lowering emissions and water use to protecting nature and biodiversity.
- 01 Evolving Regulations
- 02 Lack of Reliable Data
- 03 Pressure to Report
- 04 Managing Supply Chains
- 05 Balancing Cost/Efficiency
- 06 Stakeholder Expectations
- 07 Limited Internal Expertise
The challenge: Keeping up with complex and evolving environmental regulations.
The solution: We simplify regulatory requirements, such as CSRD, CBAM and EPD, into action plans, helping you meet current obligations and prepare for upcoming changes without overburdening your team.
The challenge: The lack of reliable carbon and environmental data.
The solution: We build auditable carbon and environmental baselines, giving you confidence in your data for reporting, decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
The challenge: Increasing pressures to report emissions across multiple sites and operations.
The solution: We take a structure, site-by-site approach to carbon and environmental reporting, ensuring consistency while reflecting the realities of your operations.
The challenge: Managing Scope 3 emissions across complex supply chains.
The solution: We help you identify material Scope 3 categories, engage suppliers pragmatically, and prioritise actions that deliver tangible progress without disrupting procurement.
The challenge: Balancing sustainability goals with cost, productivity and efficiency.
The solution: We focus on practical, cost-effective solutions that align environmental improvements with operational performance and long-term resilience, always starting with the low-hanging fruit first.
The challenge: Responding to customer, investor and stakeholder scrutiny.
The solution: We support credible, transparent sustainability disclosures that stand up to scrutiny and strengthen trust with customers, investors and commercial partners.
The challenge: Having limited internal expertise or sustainability expertise.
The solution: We act as an extension of your team, providing specialist support exactly where it's needed, without the overhead of building in-house capacity. Our team brings decades of combined experience, with in-depth expertise across multiple areas of sustainability.
CLIENT SUCCESS STORIES IN MANUFACTURING
C-biotech have now been provided with the knowledge to contribute to their overall mission, 'turn the construction sector from a carbon emitter into a carbon sink.'
Keen to receive third-party verification and new ways they could accelerate their pathway to net zero. We conducted a BCA and ECA providing way to reduce emissions in these areas.
Carrying out a third-party LCA on their Perovskite Solar Power Film, resulting in their product being twice as cost effective than competing technology.
Through conducting an ECA on the environmental impacts of their Black Start Controller, the results for a single unit was around 900 kgCO2e less than the conventional solution.
