ABOUT DR ARVIND
Arvind holds BSc (Hons) Biology with a specialism in Environmental protection from the University of Mauritius (UoM). Holds post graduate Certificate in Education in Biology from the Mauritius Institute of Education. He is a Rescue Diver (PADI) and has a PhD in the field of Marine Molecular Biology and Ecology. His PhD focused on evaluating the antioxidant and anticancer activities of marine plants such as mangrove, seagrasses and seaweeds and with invertebrates like sea urchins and marine molluscs. For 15 years he has specialised in local seaweed identification, marine biodiversity surveying and analysis. He is also experienced in experimental Biology for fish-feed production and inland seaweed cultivation.
Arvind has past experience in teaching at Tertiary level for 5 years in fields like Research methods, Genetics and Bioinformatics, Ecology and Fundamental Biology. He has also taught at secondary schools for more than one year. He actively promotes environmental and Biodiversity protection and Education through workshops and publications. Arvind is passionate about seaweed biology and raising awareness about it. He is always eager in understanding, protecting and promoting the conservation of the vulnerable ecosystems.
Joining Tunley Environmental, he will focus on sustainability assessments for Carbon, Biodiversity, and Resources, while also advocating for the environmental issues caused by human activities in Mauritius. Driven by a commitment to addressing environmental challenges, Arvind seeks to promote sustainable practices and influence environmental policy development. He is eager to utilize his skills to create a sustainable environment and is enthusiastic about his future in Environmental Science at Tunley Environmental.
