UNLOCKING THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF YOUR PRODUCT
LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT (LCA)
Our comprehensive assessments follow international standards to provide you with accurate carbon footprints for your products. Make informed decisions and reduce your environmental impact today.
UNDERSTANDING A LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT
- A Life Cycle Assessment considers the carbon emissions data of a product over different stages of its lifetime.
- We will provide you with the carbon emissions data for each product which is assessed.
- The assessment will allow you to demonstrate your commitment to environmental sustainability to clients within your industry.
MEASURE THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF YOUR PRODUCTS
Conduct a comprehensive life cycle assessment to evaluate the environmental impact of your product. Our services follow international standards and guidelines to provide accurate carbon footprint calculations for each stage of your product's life. Gain valuable insights and make informed decisions to minimise your carbon emissions.

OPTIMIZE YOUR PRODUCT'S CARBON FOOTPRINT
Each service follows the same principles, requirements and guidelines for the quantification of the carbon footprint of products. The quantification of the GHG emissions associated with the life cycle stages of a product differs between each service.

iVAPPS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Tunley Environmental carried out an Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of iVapps products, including the portal and two types of valve cartridges, compared to the traditional gate valves and data loggers used in the water industry.
The results showed significant carbon savings when iVapps products were used in comparison to conventional products. With their Portal + SMART Cartridge combination, it has the potential to save up to 1.83 t CO2e per system over a century, compared to using a data logger alone. Check out their TTSS Member page to see what other savings their products have compared to conventional products.
WHAT ARE THE STAGES WITHIN AN LCA?
The initial, embodied carbon the materials service begins with resource extraction and raw material sourcing. Whereas the cradle to factory gate LCA extends this to include transportation and production. Finally, the most detailed service is the cradle to grave LCA that includes use and the use and end-of-life stages of the product. Learn more about the stages within an LCA.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Life Cycle Assessments are versatile and powerful which offers numerous benefits, including better decision-making, environmental impact reduction, cost savings, enhanced competitiveness, and support for sustainability goals. It plays a critical role in promoting environmentally responsible practices and guiding efforts towards a more sustainable future. Seek more information on 'The Benefits of a Life Cycle Assessment.'
Cradle-to-gate (often referred to as embodied carbon) and cradle-to-grave (often referred to as an LCA) are two terms used in Life Cycle Assessments and environmental analysis to describe different boundaries or scopes for assessing the environmental impacts of a product, process, or system.
Cradle-to-Gate: Considers the environmental impacts from raw materials to the factory gate where the product or building is fully manufactured/constructed, excluding the implementation, use, and end-of-life phases.
Cradle-to-Grave: Considers the entire life cycle of a product or building, including raw material extraction, manufacturing/construction, transportation, use, and end-of-life stages. Providing a more comprehensive assessment of its environmental impacts.
